The Way Ahead: The Health Service in Scotland: The Way Ahead. This was a watered down version of similar priorities statements issued by DHSS and Welsh Office in the same year. It emphasized the need: (a) to provide Community Care through improved primary care and community health services; (b) to lessen the growth rate in the acute sector in order to finance spending on priority groups; and (c) to promote prevention and education.
